Join the Journey to Completion

The Kakori Conservation Centre already exists. Researchers live here. Workshops hum with activity. Communities are engaged.

Now, with your partnership, we will finish the front-facing buildings that will define Kakori for decades to come.

“Be part of building Hwange’s future. Help us complete the Kakori Conservation Centre — a legacy of hope, science, and community.”

Why This Matters

The Kakori Conservation Centre is more than infrastructure. It is:

  • A Knowledge Platform — guiding wildlife protection through world-class science.

  • A Community Hub — inspiring youth, empowering artisans, and creating livelihoods.

  • A Coalition Base — bringing together partners, donors, and researchers to shape Africa’s conservation future.

By completing the Centre, we unlock the full potential of a space already serving scientists and communities.

The Next Phase — Building the Heart of the Centre

What makes this phase remarkable is how it is being built. The Centre’s design is rooted in sustainability and creativity: up cycled living bricks made from glass bottles and plastic collected locally, reclaimed timber for doors and windows, and evaporative cooling systems that harness natural airflow. Every element reflects a biophilic design ethos — blending modern ergonomics with natural materials, creating spaces that are both functional and deeply connected to the environment. In this way, the Centre itself becomes a living example of Kakori’s triple sustainability loop in action.Coming in 2026:

  • Community Welcome Centre & Offices — a space to connect people with our vision.

  • Library & Knowledge Hub — making conservation science accessible to all.

  • Interpretation Centre — sharing the story of Hwange’s landscapes, wildlife, and communities.

  • Auditorium — hosting lectures, school groups, and coalition meetings.

Together, these buildings will transform Kakori into a flagship hub where research, community, and conservation action converge.

Proof of Commitment — What’s Already Built

At Kakori, we believe credibility begins with action. That’s why the Conservation Centre is not just a concept — it is already operating today.

Completed facilities include:

  • 24 Research & Student Rooms — providing accommodation for scientists, students, and conservationists.

  • 1 Senior Lecturer Residence

  • 2 Senior Research Houses

  • Research Hub & Canteen — where visiting teams gather daily to share knowledge and meals.

  • Indigenous Tree Nursery with supporting educational infrastructure

  • Support Infrastructure — woodworking workshop, tailor shop, and service station, ensuring both conservation operations and local livelihoods thrive.

These spaces are alive with activity, hosting research projects and empowering local skills. They are tangible proof that Kakori delivers on its promises.
